1940s Kansas Sunflower Quilt
Page 2. Go to page 3.
Such a gorgeous quilt! Nearly 70 years old and in near-perfect condition. Only a couple of flowers were in need of new
petals, and the quilt needed a bath.

The stitching in the
medallions around the
flowers echos the shape of
the flowers themselves.

Love the patterns on
these old fabrics!
Quilt That Quilt!
This is what happens when you just sew the edges of your quilt top, batting and backing together. The quilter only
sewed the edges closed. She didn't sew through all 3 layers anywhere else. See the result? Puckered edges and lumps
from the unsecured batting pulling apart in the middle. I had to take it apart and quilt it.

I took apart the quilt, replaced the batting, then quilted
all 3 layers with stars. I also added binding so the quilt will
last longer.
